  1. Happy 50th Cindy!
Do you remember back 38 years ago, in 1971 when we were camping and went for a ride in my VW that I had just gotten? It was you, Cheryl, Pam(it was the first time she had gone camping with my family), Paul and myself. We were driving done a old dirt road when we passed what we thought was and abandoned farm house with a old car in the yard. We stopped and Pam and Paul got out and went up to the car and "borrowed" the gear shift knob off of the shifter. They got back in my car and we set off on our way. A couple of minutes went by and out of no where this old bomb of a car came up from behind us and ran us off the road. This old redneck got out and wanted to know what we were doing, we told him we were looking for rabbits. At that point he let us go but told us if anything was missing he would be back for us. We set off again, a little ways done the road Pam threw the "borrowed" knob out the window into a field. We continued on when suddenly the man came up from behind us and ran us off the road again blocking us in. He claimed we had stolen his gear shift knob and he had called the sheriff, who had to come over the mountain from Woodstock. We were scared poopless! You and Cheryl were in the backseat crying because you were scared and you knew the sheriff knew your Daddies. We sat there waiting, the redneck and his wife sat on the hood of their car while his kids climbed around on the roof of their car. Finally, the sheriff showed up, he took our names, and asked what we were doing, we told him we were looking for rabbits and nothing else. He searched my car, it didn't help that a had a copy of Abbie Hoffman's "Steal This Book" in the back window. Finally he let us go, we went back to the camp ground knowing that the poop was going to hit the fan when we told our parents. As I remember it was not that bad when we told them what had happened and it has always made for a really good story.
    Anyways,
    Have a great day,
    See you in October,
    Gary

  2. Well after that story, the first one with you on the wrong side of the law, I'll bring you forward about 32 or 33 years. You were out working in your yard and my Gary was coming to mow at Uncle Donnie's house, next door. If I remember his telling me correctly he caught you stealing Uncle Donnie's prized flowers. I believe you thought Uncle Donnie didn't want the flowers and he wouldn't miss them. Wow Cindy I think we are seeing a pattern!! Have a great birthday. I'll be back with more stories and pictures!
Have a great day and Happy 50th,
Laura, Gary, Sara, Emily and Bailey Dawson

  3. Ode to Cindy. . .

Well, it's that time of year again, dear Cin,
    Really, there's no denying
Another year has come and gone
You know that I'm not crying!

My, oh my the times we've had,
Most of them good, very few of them bad.
Growing up with you as my best friend
Has been a gift that I hope won't ever end!

From the Brady Bunch to the Partridge Family
    To Marcus Welby, M.D.
    Fairystones and camping trips
you, me and Carmelita made three!

You touch so many every day
in your very special and caring way.
I know Maizie and Ford watch down from above
and their hearts overflow with so much love.

The first 50 is just a warm-up for you.
    You've reach the Golden Era-
    What next will you do?

May God bless you with sweet and simple pleasures
    and many years of laughter.
May God bless you with all of life's best treasures.
I wish you happily ever after!!!!!!!!!

Happy 50th to my dear friend!

    Love ya--Cheryl

  5. Instead of the suspcious activity as Gary described above, I will recount the good times we had driving throughout Shenandoah County with you and Maizie while Ford and Dad floated and fished down the North Fork. I remember driving by Stoney Creek and that swinging bridge over there. And the toast and chocolate milk sure hit the spot whenever we visited Maizie's house.

Happy Birthday! See you at the reunion.
